Sony launches Xperia C3, selfie-oriented smartphone

Sony has announced the new “selfie” oriented phone Xperia C3, which have been designed for selfie shot lovers.

The Sony Xperia C3 has a 5.5-inch (720×1280 pixel) Triluminous display which is supported by Bravia Engine 2 and is powered by Snapdragon 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon Quad-core processor with Adreno 305 GPU. The phone has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which can be extended via a microSD card upto 32GB. It packs a 2500mAh battery, which is rated for up to 24 hours of talk time (unspecified network) and 1,071 hours of standby time, according to the company. The phone will also come in a Dual-Sim version. Both Sony Xperia C3 and Xperia C3 Dual runs on Android 4.4 KitKat.

The phone comes with an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash. The highlight of the device is the front facing 5MP wide angle camera with LED flash for taking “selfies” even in low light. The front facing camera has Sony’s Exmor RS sensor and a dedicated front facing soft flash accompanying the camera sensor for taking those night time selfies. The front facing camera is also capable of capturing video at 720p. The front-facing camera features a wide-angle view to capture a group selfie.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, GPS, GLONASS, Wi-Fi, and USB charging. The smartphone comes in Black, White and Mint colour variants.

Xperia C3 launched globally from August 2014 starting with China as the first launch market.
