Nokia announces its first Android Tablet – N1, priced at $249

Most of you would have thought that Nokia was done with the smartphone business due to their agreement with Microsoft. Just a few days ago, the company said that it was thinking about how to revive its brand name in consumer markets just months after selling off its former flagship mobile phones business to Microsoft for around $7.2 billion. Surprisingly, Nokia today announced its first first Android-based Tablet – N1. The tablet looks very similar to Apple’s iPad mini tablet.

According to Nokia, the N1 will be brought to market in Q1 2015 through a brand-licensing agreement with an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) partner. It may be noted that Nokia cannot use its brand name for smartphones till 2016.

The tablet sports a 7.9-inch IPS display (2048x1536p) with LED backlight. The display fully laminated with zero air-gap and is protected by Gorilla Glass 3. Powered by a 2.3GHz Intel 64-bit Atom processor, PowerVR G6430 GPU(533Mhz), 2GB LP DDR3 RAM (800Mhz) and 32GB of internal storage. The tablet runs Android 5.0 Lollipop with Nokia Z Launcher pre-installed. The device is equipped with a 8-megapixel autofocus camera at the back which supports 1080p video recording and a 5-megapixel front camera.

Connectivity options include – Dual-band Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, MIMO, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB 2.0 port with Type-C reversible connector. The device packs a 5300mAh battery.

The device would be available in two colors – Natural Aluminum and Lava Gray. The Nokia N1 tablet will be first launched in China during Q1 2015.
