Motorola launches the Moto Z2 Play and Moto Mods

Lenovo-owned Motorola has announced the successor to the Moto Z Play by launching the Moto Z2 Play. The company has launched 4 new Moto Mods alongside as well. The device is priced at $499 and will be made available in Fine Gold, Nimbus Blue and Lunar Grey colour variants.

The Moto Z2 Play boasts an all-metal unibody design with a water repellent nano coating. The smartphone sports a 5.5inch Full HD Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The device is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 626 Octa – core processor clocked at 2.2GHz with 3GB RAM/32GB storage or 4GB RAM/64GB storage. It also contains a memory expansion slot which supports microSD cards of up to 2TB. The handset runs on Android 7.1.1Nougat out of the box.

The Moto Z2 Play features a 12MP dual-pixel autofocus camera with dual autofocus lens and dual LED colour corrected flash. On the front, it has got a 5MP front camera with wide-angle lens and dual LED colour corrected flash. The handset packs a 3,000mAh battery and includes support for Turbo Charging. Other options include – 4G with VoLTE, WiFi, Bluetooth, USB Type – C, NFC and GPS. The handset also includes a round-shaped fingerprint sensor beneath the home button.

Moto Mods

The company has also announced 4 new Moto Mods for its Moto Z series: JBL SoundBoost 2, Moto TurboPower Pack, Moto Style Shells with Wireless Charging and the Moto GamePad.

The JBL SoundBoost 2 delivers 10 hours’ of playtime on a single charge and comes with a water repellent coating.

This Moto Gamepad Mod allows you to transform your Moto Z into a handheld gaming console. It has dual control sticks, D-pad and four action buttons. It also contains a 1035mAh built-in battery that can last up to 8 hours. The Moto TurboPower Pack Mod is 3,490mAh battery and can charge the phone at 15W. The company has also introduced Wireless charging shells which can charge the phone at 10W.

The SoundBoost 2, TurboPower Pack, and GamePad is priced at $79.99, while the Moto Style Shell with Wireless Charging is priced at $39.99.
