Google India forays into Digital Payments with ‘Tez’ App

Google India today launched the Tez app, a new mobile wallet app. The app works on UPI (Unified Payments Interface) platform launched by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

UPI allows you to transfer money into receiver’s bank account by entering his/her VPA (Virtual Payment Address) linked to the bank account, rather than requiring the full bank account number, IFSC code, etc.

The app includes support for Eight languages – Hindi, Tamil, Bengali, Gujarati, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi.

Google also has some launch offers for the Tez app. Users who invite their friends to Tez will get ₹ 51, provided the friend makes a payment with the app. The offer is valid till 1, April, 2018, and the limit is ₹ 9000 per year. The company has also announced a scratch card option in which if an user pays ₹ 50 or more in a week then the user stand the chance of winning ₹ 1 lakh in a lucky draw every week. Finally for payment for ₹ 50 or more, each user gets a scratch card which will earn them up to ₹ 1000 (up to 10 cards per week) upto ₹ 9,000 per year.
