Xiaomi launches Redmi Y series smartphones

Xiaomi today launched its Redmi Y series in India. The ‘Y’ in the new Xiaomi Redmi Y series stands for ‘You’. The company has launched two new smartphones under the series – Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite. The company has also announced the MIUI 9 Global Stable build for its handsets.

The Redmi Y1 sports a 5.5-inch HD screen and is powered by a octa-core Snapdragon 435 chipset. The handset features a 16-megapixel front camera with selfie light, and 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual LED flash. It has microSD card support up to 128GB, 4G VoLTE, and 3080mAh battery. The Redmi Y1 with 3GB RAM and 32GB storage is priced at ₹ 8,999, and the 4GB RAM and 64 GB storage is priced at ₹ 10,999.

The Redmi Y1 Lite sports a 5.5-inch HD screen and is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 425 chipset. The handset features a 5-megapixel front camera and 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF and dual LED flash. It has microSD card support up to 128GB, 4G VoLTE, and 3080mAh battery. The Redmi Y1 Lite with 2GB RAM and 16GB storage is priced at ₹ 6,999.

Both the handsets will go on sale exclusively via Amazon.
